Through my educational and professional experience, I have gained the skills to assess complex societal and policy issues that face our community, listen to all perspectives, and attempt to arrive at rational, consensus-based decisions.
Responsive Governance.
Responsive and transparent governance is crucial in fostering a healthy and thriving community, leading to more inclusive decision-making and enhanced trust in the system.
Whenever possible, I will lead through listening to you, and push our city government to be even more responsive and transparent.
Regional Collaboration.
While we are consistently leaders regionally, it is the tough truth that most of the communities around us have been growing at a rapid pace. We need to be sure to act in a collaborative nature with our neighbors, while also being firm in what is important to us.
Key Issues
Climate Action and Community Resiliency: I get up every day and work to make our region more sustainable, resilient, and regenerative. In my mind, all issues are now climate issues. Not only do we need to rush as quickly as we can toward a decarbonized economy, but we will need to invest in the lasting resiliency of our community. And while we work diligently toward a sustainable and resilient future, we will need to ensure that our entire community comes with us and the transition is as just as it is quick.
Financial Health: We can’t accomplish any of the ambitious goals that we have without a solid financial foundation. I look forward to working closely with staff and my future colleagues on council to ensure a strong fiscal position for our city government.
Responsible Growth: Growth is good. But we have to be sure to do it in a responsible and intentional way. I think many of us have come to accept that growth is inevitable for our community, and in many cases, we welcome it. Growth means new neighbors, new ideas, new jobs; all exciting things! However, we need to grow in a planned and purposeful way. I know that our planning staff and our planning commission work hard to achieve this end, and I look forward to supporting them in that pursuit.
